Lagesåtergång

Lagesåtergång is a concept primarily used in engineering and materials science to describe the process by which a material or structure returns to its original shape or dimensions after being subjected to a deforming force or stress. This phenomenon is directly related to the elastic properties of the material. When a material is within its elastic limit, the applied stress causes a temporary deformation. Upon removal of the stress, the internal forces within the material cause it to recover its original form.

The extent and speed of lagesåtergång depend on various factors. These include the material's Young's modulus, which measures its stiffness; its yield strength, which defines the limit of elastic behavior; and the temperature.
