Lactodurum
Lactodurum is an ancient Roman settlement and fort located in modern-day Towcester, Northamptonshire, England. Its name is believed to be derived from a Brittonic word for "strong place" or "fortified hill," combined with the Latin "durum," meaning "oak." The Romans established Lactodurum as a strategic outpost along Watling Street, a major Roman road connecting Dover to Wroxeter.
Evidence suggests the site was occupied from around the 1st century AD, with a significant military presence.
