LVEFcsökkenés, which translates to decreased left ventricular ejection fraction, refers to a condition where the heart's left ventricle pumps out a lower than normal percentage of blood with each contraction. The left ventricle is the main pumping chamber of the heart, responsible for sending oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. Ejection fraction (EF) is a measure of how well the heart is pumping. A normal LVEF is typically between 50% and 70%. When LVEFcsökkenés occurs, the heart muscle may be weakened or stiffened, impairing its ability to contract effectively.

Several factors can contribute to LVEFcsökkenés, including coronary artery disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, heart valve disease, cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle), and certain infections. Symptoms can vary depending on the severity of the reduction in ejection fraction and may include shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in the legs and ankles, and a rapid or irregular heartbeat.

Diagnosing LVEFcsökkenés typically involves imaging tests such as an echocardiogram, which uses ultrasound to visualize the heart's structure and function, and to calculate the ejection fraction. Other tests like cardiac MRI or a cardiac catheterization may also be used. Treatment strategies aim to manage the underlying cause, improve heart function, and alleviate symptoms. This can include medications to lower blood pressure, reduce fluid buildup, and improve heart contractility, as well as lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise. In some cases, devices like pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators may be recommended.
