LRAD
LRAD stands for Long Range Acoustic Device. It is a directional audio system developed to deliver loud, targeted sound over long distances and to warn or deter individuals or crowds. LRAD devices use a phased array of transducers to produce a focused sound beam that can be aimed at a specific area, with relatively low dispersion to the sides compared with conventional loudspeakers. In addition to broadcast of live or prerecorded voice messages, some models can emit sirens or other alerts. The output is sufficiently intense at close range to cause discomfort or potential hearing effects, while the beam widens with distance.
