The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program is a global initiative aimed at recognizing and supporting women pursuing careers in science. Established in 1998, it seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in scientific fields and promote gender equality. The program is a partnership between the cosmetics company L'Oréal and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The initiative comprises several components. National and regional fellowships are awarded annually to outstanding female scientists for their research projects. These fellowships provide financial support and resources to enable them to continue their work. Beyond fellowships, the program also honors a few distinguished senior scientists with international awards for their lifetime achievements and significant contributions to science.

The For Women in Science program also focuses on promoting science education among young girls and women, encouraging them to consider scientific disciplines. It highlights role models and champions the importance of diversity in scientific innovation. The program's overarching goal is to foster a more inclusive scientific community and accelerate scientific progress by harnessing the full potential of all researchers, regardless of gender. Over the years, it has recognized thousands of women in over 100 countries.
