LCDLEDskærme

LCDLEDskærme, often referred to as LED screens, are a common type of display technology used in a wide variety of electronic devices, including televisions, computer monitors, smartphones, and tablets. These screens combine a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel with Light Emitting Diode (LED) backlighting. The LCD panel itself is made of liquid crystals that can be polarized to allow or block light. The LEDs serve as the light source that illuminates the LCD panel from behind.

In an LCDLEDskærm, the pixels of the LCD panel control whether light from the LEDs passes through, creating the image. Different colors are produced by using color filters for each sub-pixel within a pixel. The arrangement and control of these LEDs in the backlight unit significantly impact the screen's performance, particularly contrast ratios and brightness. Early LCD screens used fluorescent lamps for backlighting, but LEDs have largely replaced them due to their energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and ability to produce brighter and more vibrant images. Different types of LED backlighting exist, such as edge-lit and full-array backlighting, each offering distinct advantages in terms of design and picture quality.
