Kütusesüsteemi, often translated as fuel system, refers to the collection of components within an internal combustion engine responsible for storing, delivering, and injecting fuel to the engine's combustion chambers. The primary function of the fuel system is to ensure the correct amount of fuel is mixed with air for efficient combustion under various operating conditions.

A typical fuel system begins with a fuel tank, which stores the gasoline or diesel fuel. From the tank, fuel is drawn by a fuel pump, which pressurizes the fuel and sends it through fuel lines to the engine. In older vehicles, carburetors were responsible for mixing fuel and air, but modern vehicles predominantly use fuel injection systems. These systems utilize fuel injectors, which are electronically controlled nozzles that precisely spray fuel directly into the intake manifold or the combustion chamber itself.

The fuel system also includes a fuel filter to remove impurities that could clog injectors or damage engine components. A fuel pressure regulator maintains a consistent fuel pressure, ensuring optimal performance. Sensors within the system monitor factors like engine temperature and airflow, providing data to the engine control unit (ECU) which then precisely regulates the amount of fuel injected. Issues within the fuel system, such as a faulty fuel pump, clogged filter, or malfunctioning injectors, can lead to poor engine performance, decreased fuel economy, or engine failure.
