Külmpressimist is a method of extracting oils from various materials, most commonly seeds and nuts. The process involves crushing the source material using a mechanical press, such as a screw press, at temperatures that are kept low. This is typically below a certain threshold, often around 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit), though this can vary depending on the specific oil and desired characteristics.

The primary advantage of külmpressimist is the preservation of the oil's nutritional content, flavor, and aroma. Unlike methods that involve heat or chemical solvents, cold pressing avoids damaging sensitive compounds like vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. This results in a purer, more flavorful, and often more beneficial oil.

Common examples of oils produced through külmpressimist include olive oil, flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, and sesame oil. These oils are highly valued in culinary applications for their distinct tastes and for their health benefits.
