Körperhöhlenraum

Körperhöhlenraum refers to the space within the body that is enclosed by cavities and membranes. These spaces house and protect vital organs. The primary body cavities in humans are the dorsal body cavity and the ventral body cavity. The dorsal body cavity is located on the posterior side of the body and is further divided into the cranial cavity, which houses the brain, and the vertebral cavity, which contains the spinal cord.

The ventral body cavity is located on the anterior side of the body and is much larger than the dorsal cavity. It is further subdivided into the thoracic cavity and the abdominopelvic cavity. The thoracic cavity is separated from the abdominopelvic cavity by the diaphragm. The thoracic cavity contains the lungs, heart, and esophagus. The abdominopelvic cavity is the largest body cavity and is divided into the abdominal cavity, which contains organs like the stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas, and the pelvic cavity, which houses the reproductive organs, bladder, and rectum.

These body cavities are lined with serous membranes, such as the pleura around the lungs, the pericardium around the heart, and the peritoneum lining the abdominal cavity. These membranes help to lubricate the organs, reduce friction, and protect the organs from infection. The maintenance of these spaces and the organs within them is crucial for overall health and bodily function.
