Kõrgeresolutsioon

Kõrgeresolutsioon, often translated as high resolution, refers to a display or image with a greater number of pixels than a standard or lower resolution. Pixels are the individual tiny dots that make up a digital image or screen display. A higher pixel count allows for more detail to be shown, resulting in a sharper, clearer, and more defined image.

In the context of displays, such as computer monitors, televisions, or smartphone screens, higher resolutions like 1920x1080 (Full HD) or 3840x2160 (4K UHD) mean that more pixels are packed into the same physical space. This leads to a more immersive viewing experience, with text appearing crisper and images looking more lifelike. The increased pixel density reduces the visibility of individual pixels, preventing a "screen door effect."

For images and videos, high resolution means that the source material contains a large number of pixels. This allows for larger prints without loss of quality and provides greater flexibility for cropping or zooming in on details. Conversely, a low-resolution image may appear pixelated or blurry when enlarged, as the limited number of pixels cannot represent the fine details. The term is also used in other fields, such as microscopy, to denote the ability to distinguish between two closely spaced points.
