Készletmenedzsment

Készletmenedzsment is the Hungarian term for inventory management. It encompasses all the activities related to the efficient flow of goods from their origin to their final destination. This includes planning, organizing, directing, and controlling inventory levels. The primary goal of készletmenedzsment is to ensure that the right amount of stock is available at the right time and place, while minimizing the associated costs.

Effective készletmenedzsment involves various strategies, such as demand forecasting, order quantity optimization, safety stock calculation, and inventory tracking. It aims to balance the costs of holding inventory (e.g., storage, obsolescence, insurance) with the costs of not having enough inventory (e.g., lost sales, production stoppages, expedited shipping). Different inventory valuation methods, like FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and LIFO (Last-In, First-Out), are also part of készletmenedzsment, influencing financial reporting and tax liabilities.

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are often used to measure the effectiveness of készletmenedzsment, including inventory turnover ratio, stockout rate, and order fulfillment cycle time. Modern készletmenedzsment often relies on sophisticated software systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or dedicated inventory management software, to automate processes and provide real-time visibility into inventory levels. Ultimately, successful készletmenedzsment contributes significantly to a company's profitability and customer satisfaction by optimizing resource allocation and operational efficiency.
