Képegyesítés, also known as image stitching or photo stitching, is a process in digital imaging that combines multiple overlapping photographs into a single, seamless, panoramic image. This technique is commonly used to capture a wider field of view than a single photograph can provide, such as landscapes or cityscapes.

The core principle of képegyesítés involves identifying common features or points of reference in the overlapping regions of adjacent images. Software algorithms then analyze these features to determine the relative orientation and position of each image. Once this spatial relationship is established, the images are warped or distorted to align them correctly. Finally, the overlapping areas are blended together, often using techniques like feathering or gradient blending, to create a smooth transition and eliminate visible seams.

Several factors influence the quality of képegyesítés. The degree of overlap between images is crucial; typically, an overlap of 20-40% is recommended. Consistent lighting conditions and focal length across all source images also contribute to a more successful result. Advanced képegyesítés techniques can also account for lens distortion and parallax errors. The output of the process is a high-resolution image that appears as if it were captured by a single camera with a much wider lens.
