Käynnistymis

Käynnistymis is a Finnish term that translates to "startup" or "booting" in English, and it refers to the process of initiating a computer system or an electronic device. This process involves a sequence of operations that load the operating system into the computer's memory, making it ready for use. When a computer is turned on, it undergoes a käynnistymis sequence.

The käynnistymis process typically begins with the Power-On Self-Test (POST), which checks the basic hardware components of the system to ensure they are functioning correctly. Following a successful POST, the system's firmware, such as the BIOS or UEFI, is loaded. This firmware then locates the boot device, which is usually a hard drive or solid-state drive containing the operating system.

Once the boot device is identified, the firmware loads the bootloader, a small program responsible for loading the operating system kernel. The kernel is the core of the operating system and is responsible for managing the system's resources. After the kernel is loaded, it initializes various system services and drivers, preparing the system for user interaction. The entire käynnistymis process culminates in the display of the operating system's graphical user interface or command-line interface, signifying that the system is ready for operation.
