Kylmämuotoiluna is a Finnish term that translates to "cold forming" or "cold working" in English. It refers to a manufacturing process where metal is shaped at or near room temperature, without significant heating. This contrasts with hot forming, where the metal is heated to a high temperature to make it more malleable.

The primary advantage of kylmämuotoiluna is its ability to improve the mechanical properties of the metal. When metal is cold worked, its grain structure becomes deformed and elongated, which increases its strength, hardness, and tensile strength. This process also results in a smoother surface finish and tighter dimensional tolerances compared to hot forming.

Common methods of kylmämuotoiluna include cold rolling, cold drawing, cold forging, and extrusion.
