Kvanttiyhdistelmän

Kvanttiyhdistelmä, often translated as quantum entanglement, is a phenomenon in quantum mechanics where two or more quantum particles become linked in such a way that they share the same fate, regardless of the distance separating them. When particles are entangled, measuring a property of one particle instantaneously influences the corresponding property of the other particle(s). This correlation is not due to any classical signal passing between the particles, but rather a fundamental aspect of their shared quantum state.

The concept of entanglement was famously described by Albert Einstein, Boris Podolsky, and Nathan Rosen in their 1935 paper, often referred to as the EPR paradox. They questioned whether quantum mechanics was a complete theory, suggesting that entanglement implied the existence of "hidden variables" that determined the particles' properties beforehand. However, subsequent experiments, particularly those based on Bell's theorem, have overwhelmingly supported the predictions of quantum mechanics and ruled out local hidden variable theories.

Entanglement is a crucial resource for emerging quantum technologies. In quantum computing, it enables powerful algorithms that can solve problems intractable for classical computers. In quantum communication, entanglement is used for secure key distribution through quantum cryptography and for building quantum repeaters to extend the range of quantum networks. The non-local correlations inherent in entanglement continue to be a subject of intense theoretical and experimental research, pushing the boundaries of our understanding of reality at its most fundamental level.
