Kuppimuodolla

Kuppimuodolla, also known as the "Kuppi coup" or "Kuppi regime," refers to a period in Finnish history from 1939 to 1944, named after its leader, General Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, who was known as "Kuppi" (Finnish for "cap"). This period was marked by a military dictatorship that emerged following the Winter War against the Soviet Union. The Kuppimuodolla regime was characterized by its authoritarian nature, with Mannerheim holding significant political power and controlling the government through his military influence.

The regime's establishment was a response to the political instability and economic hardships following the Winter War. Mannerheim, who had been the commander-in-chief of the Finnish army, seized power in 1939, dissolving the parliament and taking control of the government. The regime was supported by the Finnish military and the conservative segments of society, which saw it as a necessary measure to restore order and stability.

During the Kuppimuodolla period, Finland experienced significant economic challenges, including high unemployment and inflation.
