Kupferband

Kupferband, known in English as copper tape or copper strip, is a thin, flat conductor made from copper. It is manufactured through a cold rolling process that reduces the metal thickness to specific dimensions, resulting in a flexible yet strong material. Copper tape is available in various widths and thicknesses to suit different industrial and commercial applications.

One of the primary uses of Kupferband is in the electrical and electronics industries. It serves as an effective conductor for grounding, shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI), and repairing printed circuit boards. Variants often feature a conductive adhesive backing to simplify installation without soldering. In heavy electrical engineering, thicker copper strips are used in transformers and switchgear due to their high current-carrying capacity.

Beyond engineering, Kupferband has found utility in gardening as a physical barrier against slugs and snails. The metal reacts with the pests' mucus to create a mild electrical sensation that deters them. Additionally, crafters and artists utilize the tape for stained glass work and decorative embossing due to its malleability and metallic finish. The material is typically supplied as bare copper, though tinned versions are available to enhance resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
