Kundankomster

Kundankomster, also referred to as kundanksometer or liquid measuring vessel, is a traditional type of ancient measurement tool used primarily in Europe. Its design and functionality are associated with the historical practice of apothecary and the use of various liquids, such as medicine or alcoholic beverages.

Historical records indicate that kundankomster was in use during the 16th to 18th centuries, particularly among apothecaries and other professionals who required precise measurement of liquids. The device typically consisted of two containers connected by a tube or a spout, one that held the liquid to be measured and another with incremental markings to indicate different volume units.

The operation of a kundankomster involved pouring the liquid from the main container through the tube into the marked container, allowing the apothecary to read off the corresponding volume. The device was generally made of glass or wood, with the latter option often being more accessible to the general population.
