Kultaisen is a fictional city-state in the northern archipelago of Eldoria, a fantasy world used in contemporary speculative fiction. It is depicted as a coastal hub renowned for its gilded architecture, maritime trade, and rich mining heritage. The name Kultaisen derives from the word for gold in the local mythic language, with the suffix -isen denoting possession or belonging, yielding a meaning akin to “the golden one” or “of gold.”

Geography and districts: The city sits on three linked islands connected by bridges and causeways, with a sheltered inner harbor. The oldest quarter, known as Old Town, preserves stone streets and guild halls; the Gilded Quarter hosts workshops from metalworkers and glassmakers; the Port District contains shipyards and markets.

History: Founded in the early medieval era by the Arin family and the Golden Guild, Kultaisen developed as a trade nexus between inland mines and coastal routes. It endured periodic conflicts but prospered through guild rule and maritime loans. A renaissance period in the third era led to architectural expansion and the creation of cultural institutions.
