Kryssförstärkning

Kryssförstärkning is a term used in audio engineering and acoustics to describe a phenomenon where sound waves reflect off multiple surfaces within a room, leading to an increase in overall sound pressure levels. This effect is particularly noticeable in enclosed spaces with hard surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and floors.

The process of kryssförstärkning involves sound waves bouncing from one surface to another. Each reflection can interact with the original sound wave and subsequent reflections, potentially reinforcing or canceling out certain frequencies. When reflections arrive at a listener's ear in phase with the direct sound or other reflections, constructive interference occurs, resulting in a perceived increase in loudness. This is often referred to as reverberation or ambient sound.
