In many contexts, kretssviktbryter refers to a specialized circuit breaker that combines an integrated load-sensing element with the trip mechanism, effectively adding a weight or load limit function to a conventional breaker.

Operation is typically mechanical or electromechanical. A sensor—such as a calibrated lever with an attached weight, a load cell, or a strain gauge—measures the load on the circuit or on a connected component. This signal is translated by a mechanical linkage or electronic controller into a trip command.
