Kreniowood

Kreniowood is a town and municipality in the eastern province of Veridia, a fictional country. It sits in a broad valley bordered by the Ardenne-like Kren foothills and dense deciduous forests. The Sable River runs through the town, supporting historic mills and current recreational use. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cold winters.

Established in the early 18th century as a timber and crafts settlement, Kreniowood grew with river trade and rail connections in the 19th century. It became a municipality in 1864. The late 20th century saw diversification into manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism, and today the economy leans on forestry products, small businesses, and seasonal visitors.

The municipality has around 12,000 residents. The economy centers on forestry-related industries, woodworking, and services. The population is predominantly Veridian, with a linguistic minority speaking the local dialect. The local government operates under a mayor-council system with a directly elected mayor and a 12-member council.

Notable sites include the Old Mill Museum, the Sable River Promenade, and Kreniowood Forest Park. An autumn Timber Festival showcases carpentry, crafts, and rural cuisine. The town maintains a public library and a small arts center.

Kreniowood is connected by regional roads to the capital and neighboring towns; bus service links the town to the railhead in nearby towns. Education is provided by Kreniowood High School and a community college campus. Public services include a hospital clinic and municipal offices.
