Kovissa

Kovissa is a town and municipality in the northern part of the fictional country of Eldoria. It serves as the administrative center of Koviss County and sits along the Kov River, about 60 kilometers north of Eldoria's capital. The municipality covers about 42 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 28,000 people.

Geography and climate: The town sits in a shallow river valley surrounded by low hills. It experiences a temperate continental climate, with cold winters, warm summers, and moderate annual precipitation.

History: Kovissa originated as a mining and metalworking settlement in the medieval period. The arrival of the railway era in the late 19th century spurred growth, and Kovissa was granted municipal rights in 1863. The late 20th century saw diversification toward manufacturing and services.

Economy: The local economy centers on manufacturing, logistics, and services. The Kovissa Metals Plant is a major employer, along with a regional distribution center and a growing tech services sector. Tourism is modest but supported by the well-preserved historic center.

Culture and education: Kovissa hosts an annual autumn festival and maintains several museums and galleries. The town has two secondary schools and a vocational college, with a regional campus of Eldoria University providing higher education programs in engineering and business.
