Korttitunnistus

Korttitunnistus, also known as card authentication or card verification, is a process used to confirm the identity of an individual or the legitimacy of a payment card. This is typically achieved by comparing information presented by the cardholder with data stored on the card or in a secure database.

There are several methods of korttitunnistus. The most common involves a magnetic stripe or EMV chip on a payment card. When a transaction is made, the card is swiped or inserted into a reader, which extracts data from the chip or stripe. This data, along with information provided by the cardholder, such as a PIN (Personal Identification Number) or a signature, is then verified.
