Korostave

Korostave is a fictional town in the Veridian region of Eurantia, used here as a case study for a mid-sized Central European municipality. The population is approximately 7,600 residents, and the town covers about 38 square kilometers. It serves as an administrative center for surrounding villages.

It is situated on the Kovyr River, with rolling farmland to the east and deciduous forest to the west. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. The town lies near a junction of minor regional roads and rail lines, which facilitates commuting and trade with nearby towns.

Korostave was founded in the 17th century by agrarian settlers. The arrival of the railway in the late 19th century spurred growth, followed by industrialization in the mid-20th century. It retained a largely agricultural identity but diversified into small manufacturing and services, including light industry and administrative functions.

Major economic sectors include crop production (grains, sugar beets) and dairy farming, plus wood products from nearby forestry operations. The town hosts a weekly market, a secondary school, a community hospital, and a cultural center that hosts concerts and exhibitions. Infrastructure includes a local road network, a small public transit hub, and a municipal library.

Local culture reflects a mix of traditional Veridian customs and migrant influences. The Harvest Festival in autumn is the principal annual event.
