Koraszüléssel refers to the birth of a baby before 37 completed weeks of gestation. This means the baby is born too early and may not have had enough time to fully develop in the womb. Premature babies, also known as preemies, can face a range of health challenges due to their immaturity.

The causes of premature birth are diverse and can include factors such as maternal infections, chronic health conditions in the mother (like high blood pressure or diabetes), multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets, etc.), and problems with the placenta or uterus. Sometimes, the exact reason for a premature birth cannot be identified.

The earlier a baby is born, the higher the risk of complications. These can include difficulty breathing, problems with feeding, issues with temperature regulation, and increased susceptibility to infections. Long-term challenges might involve developmental delays, learning disabilities, or chronic health conditions.

Medical interventions are often necessary for premature babies, such as specialized care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This can involve breathing support, feeding tubes, and careful monitoring. The goal of NICU care is to help the baby grow and develop until they are strong enough to go home. While the outlook for premature babies has improved significantly with advances in medical care, it remains a serious concern in maternal and child health.
