Konvulsiyon
Konvulsiyon is a medical term referring to a sudden, involuntary, and violent shaking of the body. These episodes are often characterized by uncontrolled muscle contractions, and can affect a person's consciousness, behavior, and motor function. The underlying cause of a konvulsiyon is an abnormal electrical discharge in the brain, often associated with epilepsy. However, konvulsiyonlar can also be triggered by other factors such as high fever, head injuries, certain infections, metabolic imbalances, or drug withdrawal. The appearance of a konvulsiyon can vary significantly, ranging from brief, subtle twitches to generalized, full-body seizures. During an episode, a person may lose consciousness, fall, or experience stiffening of the muscles followed by rhythmic jerking. The duration of a konvulsiyon can also differ, from seconds to several minutes. Following a konvulsiyon, an individual may experience confusion, fatigue, or a headache. Diagnosis typically involves a medical history, physical examination, and potentially tests like an electroencephalogram (EEG) to assess brain activity. Treatment aims to manage the underlying cause and prevent future occurrences, often through medication.
