Konutun

Konutun is the Turkish possessive form meaning “your dwelling” or “the dwelling of you.” It is formed by taking the noun konut, which means dwelling, residence, or housing, and adding the second-person singular possessive suffix -un (which changes as -ın, -in, -un, -ün according to vowel harmony). Thus konutun literally translates to “your dwelling.” In everyday Turkish, konutun is commonly used in questions or statements about someone’s residence, rather than as a stand-alone noun.

As a grammatical form, konutun demonstrates Turkish possessive morphology: possessive suffixes attach directly to the noun root to indicate ownership, with the exact vowel in the suffix adapting to the final vowel of the noun or the suffix’s position within phrases. Because -un is the 2nd person singular possessive ending, konutun can appear before nouns in a sentence to denote ownership, or in genitive-like phrases where the possessed noun follows after a determiner or adjective.
