Kompoziteve

Kompoziteve refers to materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties which remain separate and distinct at the macroscopic or microscopic level within the finished structure. The aim of creating a composite material is to produce a material with characteristics different from those of the individual components. Typically, one part is the matrix, which surrounds and binds together the second part, often called the reinforcement.

The reinforcement provides strength and stiffness, while the matrix holds the reinforcement in place and distributes the load. Common types of reinforcements include fibers, such as glass, carbon, or aramid, and particles. The matrix can be a polymer, metal, or ceramic. Polymer matrix composites are the most common type, offering a good balance of properties, ease of processing, and cost.
