Kolmiloikkaaja refers to an athlete who competes in the triple jump, a track and field event. The triple jump is one of the oldest Olympic events and is characterized by a sequence of three distinct phases: a hop, a step, and a jump. The athlete begins with a run-up, similar to the long jump, and then launches into the first phase, the hop, landing on the same foot they took off from.
