Koiperhosia
Koiperhosia is a genus of small, flightless beetles belonging to the family Staphylinidae, commonly known as rove beetles. These insects are primarily found in the Koiper Belt region of the Solar System, particularly on the surface of the dwarf planet Pluto and its largest moon, Charon. Their discovery was announced in 2035 by the New Horizons extended mission team, which utilized high-resolution imaging and spectral analysis from the spacecraft’s flyby of the Pluto system.
Koiperhosia beetles are characterized by their elongated, oval-shaped bodies, typically measuring between 1 to 3 millimeters
The diet of Koiperhosia remains poorly understood, but observations suggest they may feed on organic compounds
Further study of Koiperhosia is ongoing, with plans to analyze samples collected during future robotic missions
