Klopidogreeliä is the Finnish name for clopidogrel, a medication belonging to the class of antiplatelet drugs. It is a prodrug, meaning it is inactive until it is metabolized in the liver. Once activated, clopidogrel irreversibly inhibits the P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor on platelets. This inhibition prevents ADP from binding to the receptor, which in turn reduces platelet activation and aggregation, thus decreasing the risk of blood clot formation.
