Artificial snowmaking in ski resorts or cooling systems in urban areas can also be considered climate barriers, designed to maintain specific environmental conditions in the face of climatic shifts.

Nature-based solutions, on the other hand, leverage natural processes and ecosystems. Examples include restoring coastal wetlands and mangrove forests to absorb wave energy and reduce erosion, or planting trees in urban environments to combat heat island effects and improve air quality. These approaches often provide co-benefits such as enhanced biodiversity and carbon sequestration.
