Kiüleped is a fictional concept used in speculative technology and digital humanities to describe the deliberate overlay of multiple data layers into a single, navigable representation. In this framework, a dataset can exist in several historical or hypothetical states simultaneously, with an interface that allows users to switch, blend, or fade between layers. The term is a coinage and does not refer to a real-world technique.

The word kiüleped is a constructed neologism inspired by Estonian orthography, but there is no standard etymology or usage in any established language. It is used here as a placeholder name for a class of data-visualization methods.

Mechanism: Kiüleped relies on layered data structures and time-aware metadata. Each layer carries its own timestamp, scale, and provenance. A rendering engine blends layers based on user-defined parameters, using opacity, color, and spatial interpolation to create a composite view. Users can anchor to a specific epoch, slide through intermediate states, or generate transitional frames that interpolate between states to illustrate change over time.
