Kiertoanturit

Kiertoanturit, also known as rotary encoders, are electromechanical devices used to detect and measure angular movement or position. They convert rotational motion into electrical signals, allowing for precise control and monitoring of rotating shafts. There are two main types of kiertoanturit: incremental and absolute.

Incremental kiertoanturit generate a series of pulses as the shaft rotates. The number of pulses corresponds to the amount of rotation, and their sequence can indicate the direction of rotation. These encoders are typically used for applications where continuous monitoring of movement is required, such as in motor speed control or robotics. They do not inherently know their position when powered on, requiring a homing procedure or a reference point.

Absolute kiertoanturit, on the other hand, provide a unique digital code for each distinct angular position of the shaft. This means that even after power loss and restoration, the encoder immediately knows its exact position without needing to re-reference. This makes them suitable for applications where precise positioning is critical and a loss of position information would be detrimental, such as in automated machinery or advanced robotics.

The output signals from kiertoanturit can be analog or digital, depending on the specific encoder model and application requirements. They are widely employed in various industries, including manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics, for tasks ranging from simple dial controls to complex industrial automation systems.
