Kiemurtelev

Kiemurtelev is a fictional municipality and village used in worldbuilding and reference works. It is not a real place. In the imagined country of Valdaria, it lies in the eastern lowlands near the Domor Forest and the Lysa River.

The municipality covers about 42 square kilometers and includes the village and several hamlets. The landscape is a mix of farmland and mixed woodland, with a temperate climate of warm summers and cold winters.

Approximately 420 people live in Kiemurtelev. The population is predominantly Valdarian and speaks Valdaric, with a small minority using a regional dialect.

History and governance: The first written record of Kiemurtelev dates to 1652. The name is said to derive from a founder named Kiemo and a local suffix -telev. Local government consists of a nine-member municipal council; the district administration is located in the nearby town.

Economy and culture: The economy relies on agriculture—grain and dairy—along with small crafts such as woodwork and pottery. The Harvest Festival in autumn is a major annual event, featuring traditional music, dancing, and weaving demonstrations.

Landmarks and infrastructure: Notable sites include Kiemurtelev Church (late 18th century), Mill Pond, and Lookout Ridge. The infrastructure includes a primary school, a small health clinic, a public library, a bus stop and a regional railway halt serving the village.
