Kidderminster

Kidderminster is a town in the Wyre Forest District of Worcestershire, England, located on the River Stour in the West Midlands. It lies roughly 20 miles southwest of Birmingham and serves as a retail, service, and cultural hub for the surrounding area. The town’s population is around 55,000.

Historically, Kidderminster developed as a market town and grew rapidly in the 18th and 19th centuries. It became a major centre of carpet manufacturing, with mills along the River Stour contributing to its wealth and growth. The decline of traditional textile industries in the late 20th century led to economic restructuring and efforts to regenerate the town centre.

A prominent heritage attraction is the Severn Valley Railway, a preserved steam railway that runs from Kidderminster Town to Bridgnorth, attracting visitors and linking the town with the surrounding countryside. The town is also known for Kidderminster Harriers Football Club, which plays at the home ground of Aggborough Stadium.
