Khazaddûms

Khazaddûms, more commonly known as the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm, were a renowned clan of Dwarves who inhabited the great underground city of Khazad-dûm, also called the Mines of Moria. This lineage was among the most ancient and powerful of the Seven Houses of Durin. They were famed for their exceptional skill in mining, smithing, and craftsmanship, their creations often sought after by Elves and Men alike. The riches of Khazad-dûm were legendary, including vast quantities of mithril, a precious and strong silver-like metal.

The history of Khazaddûms is deeply intertwined with the rise and fall of their magnificent city. For centuries, they prospered, expanding their halls and delving deeper into the mountains. However, their ambition and relentless mining eventually led to their undoing. In their greed, they awakened a Balrog, a creature of shadow and flame, from the depths of the earth. This cataclysmic event, often referred to as the "Doom of Khazad-dûm," forced the Dwarves to abandon their ancestral home. Many of the Khazaddûms perished in the ensuing conflict, while the survivors scattered, their once-great kingdom becoming a place of darkness and fear. Despite the loss of their city, the legacy of the Khazaddûms and their unparalleled artistry continued to be remembered and revered.
