Khama

Khama is a surname of Botswanan origin, associated with several notable figures in Botswana's political history and with a wildlife conservation site.

Sir Seretse Khama (1929–1980) was a Botswanan political leader who became the first president of Botswana after its independence in 1966. He served until his death in 1980 and helped establish the country's constitutional framework and path to economic development.

Ian Khama (born 1953) is Seretse Khama's son and served as the fourth president of Botswana from 2009 to 2018. He previously held roles in the Botswana Defence Force and government, and his tenure focused on security, governance, and economic management.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary: A wildlife sanctuary in Botswana established in 1992 to protect rhinoceros populations and promote conservation and tourism. It is located near Serowe and named in honor of Seretse Khama.
