Kevätpäiväntasaukseen

Kevätpäiväntasaukseen refers to the spring equinox, which falls on the 20 or 21 of March in the Northern Hemisphere, and the 22 or 23 of September in the Southern Hemisphere. It is one of the two pivotal days in the calendar of many cultures, along with the autumnal equinox.

During this period, the sun crosses the celestial equator from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere, resulting in approximately 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. This phenomenon is often associated with renewal and growth, as it marks the beginning of the sun's journey back towards the equator, and the end of the cold winter months.

Many ancient cultures observed the spring equinox and associated it with seasonal fertility and agricultural renewal. The untilting of the seedlings and the gradual increase of daylight are seen as symbols of hope and rekindling of life. Many festivals and traditions are still held around the world to celebrate this event.

Examples of these festivals and celebrations can be found in various ancient cultures such as Easter and May Day in Europe, Nowruz in the Middle East and Central Asia, and Khmer New Year in Cambodia. In modern times, the spring equinox is widely observed as a day of renewal and reflection, and is often marked by ceremonies, rituals and cultural practices that aim to reconnect with nature and recognize the cycle of growth that the Earth undergoes throughout the year.
