Kestävyyslihaskuormitukset
Kestävyyslihas, a Finnish term, translates to "endurance muscle" in English. It refers to slow-twitch muscle fibers, also known as Type I muscle fibers. These muscles are characterized by their ability to sustain prolonged activity with a relatively low force output. They are rich in mitochondria, the powerhouses of the cell, and myoglobin, a protein that stores oxygen. This high oxidative capacity allows kestävyyslihas to efficiently use oxygen to produce ATP, the energy currency of the body, through aerobic respiration.
Activities that heavily rely on kestävyyslihas include long-distance running, cycling, swimming, and other forms of aerobic
