Kergejõustikku

Kergejõustikku, often translated as athletics or track and field, is a sport encompassing a wide range of competitive physical activities. These activities are primarily divided into three main categories: running events, jumping events, and throwing events.

Running events include sprints such as the 100m, 200m, and 400m, as well as middle-distance races like the 800m and 1500m, and long-distance races like the 5000m and 10000m. Hurdles and steeplechase are also part of this category, requiring athletes to overcome obstacles. Relay races involve teams of athletes passing a baton.

Jumping events test an athlete's ability to propel themselves upwards or across a distance. The high jump and pole vault focus on vertical height, while the long jump and triple jump emphasize horizontal distance.

Throwing events involve launching implements as far as possible. These include the shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw. Each event requires a specific technique and a combination of strength and skill.
