The concept emphasizes greater photometric precision and a larger field of view to monitor more stars simultaneously, with the goal of detecting smaller planets and refining estimates of planetary radii and orbital periods.

Design and capabilities would likely include a modular telescope architecture or a single large photometer operating from a stable outer-space location, such as the Earth–Sun L2 point. Improvements over Kepler would focus on reducing instrumental noise, expanding spectral sensitivity, and enabling longer, uninterrupted observation campaigns that increase sensitivity to Earth-sized planets in or near habitable zones. On-board data processing and rapid transit alerting are often cited as potential features.

Scientific objectives center on determining the occurrence rate of Earth-sized planets around Sun-like stars, mapping planetary system architectures, and improving demographics of exoplanets across stellar types.
