Kenttämuisti

Kenttämuisti, often translated as field memory or sometimes as contextual memory, refers to a cognitive concept related to how information is retained and accessed in a specific situation or environment. It is the ability to recall details and events that are directly linked to the immediate physical or social context in which they occurred. This form of memory is highly dependent on the surrounding cues and stimuli, acting as a form of temporary storage that is readily available as long as the individual remains within that context.

The effectiveness of kenttämuisti is closely tied to the salience and distinctiveness of the environmental features. For example, remembering where you parked your car is an example of kenttämuisti, as the visual landmarks and the spatial layout of the parking lot serve as cues for recall.
