Kenora

Kenora is a city in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, situated on the western tip of Lake of the Woods at the head of the Winnipeg River. It lies within Treaty 3 territory and is part of the Kenora District. The city serves as a regional hub for the surrounding rural and Indigenous communities, offering services, commerce, and access to the lake and forested areas that characterize the region.

Historically, the area has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples for centuries and became a fur trade and transportation node in the 19th century. The settlement was known as Rat Portage before it incorporated as a village and later became a city. In 1905, the community was renamed Kenora.
