Keetmanshoop

Keetmanshoop is a town in southern Namibia and the administrative capital of the ǁKaras Region. It is located near the Fish River Canyon and serves as a regional transport and service hub, connected by road and by rail on the main line between Windhoek and Lüderitz.

History: The settlement was established in the late 19th century during the German colonial era as a frontier post and railway terminus. It grew into an important administrative and commercial center for the surrounding area.

Geography and climate: Keetmanshoop lies in an arid to semi-arid climate zone. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild, and rainfall is infrequent.
