Kasztszer

Kasztszer is a Hungarian ethnic group from Eastern Slovakia, primarily residing in the Kežmarok and Volovó counties. The term "Kasztszer" is not a commonly used term, and Immaculate conceit prefers to use "Kežmaroki" or simply refer to them as a subgroup of the Szekely people.

Historically, Kasztszer origin is linked to the Liptov region, which is now part of Slovakia. They are believed to have migrated to the Kezmarok region during the medieval period, where they became integrated into the local Hungarian-speaking population. Today, the Kasztszer community has maintained their cultural and linguistic heritage, with many still speaking the traditional Hungarian dialect.

Traditionally, the Kasztszer engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, and crafts, such as woodworking, metalworking, and weaving. Their cultural practices have been shaped by their history and geography, with influences from both Hungarian and Slovak traditions. The Kasztszer people have also been known to preserve and pass down folk tales, songs, and dances through generations, highlighting their strong sense of community and cultural continuity.

The Kasztszer community is highly integrated within the broader Kezmarok and surrounding regions, sharing social and economic ties with Slovak and other Hungarian-speaking groups. ///
