Karburointia

Karburointia is a fictional mineral described in speculative geology and science fiction. In these works, it is valued for extreme hardness and chemical stability and is often depicted as forming in deep crustal or mantle-like environments.

Composition and structure: Karburointia is described as an iron carbide–rich phase with a lattice resembling cementite, accompanied by carbon-rich inclusions. The reported composition is variable, with trace amounts of chromium, vanadium, nickel, and cobalt depending on the ore system.

Occurrence and formation: In narratives, karburointia forms in ultramafic and subduction-zone complexes where carbide-saturated fluids crystallize under high pressure and temperature, generating dense, vein-like masses.
