Kaprolaktámból

Kaprolaktámból is the genitive singular form of the Czech word "kaprolaktám," which translates to "caprolactam" in English. Caprolactam is an organic compound with the formula (CH₂)₅CONH. It is a cyclic amide, also known as an internal ester of aminohexanoic acid. Caprolactam is a colorless or white crystalline solid with a faint, characteristic odor. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and other organic solvents.

The primary industrial use of caprolactam is as a monomer for the production of nylon 6, also known as polycaprolactam. This process involves the ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam. Other methods of production exist, but the Beckmann rearrangement route is the most prevalent.
