Kalóriaégetés

Kalóriaégetés refers to the process by which the human body expends energy. This energy expenditure occurs continuously, even during rest, to maintain essential bodily functions such as breathing, circulation, and cell production. This baseline energy expenditure is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR).

Beyond BMR, kalóriaégetés increases with physical activity. All forms of movement, from simple walking to strenuous exercise, require the body to burn more calories. The amount of energy expended depends on the intensity, duration, and type of activity. For example, high-intensity interval training will generally burn more calories in a shorter period than a leisurely stroll.

Diet also plays a role in kalóriaégetés through the thermic effect of food (TEF). The body uses energy to digest, absorb, and metabolize the food consumed. Different macronutrients have varying TEF values; protein, for instance, requires more energy to process than carbohydrates or fats.
